Three boundaries determine what a media-fill number means.

This page audits the volume-to-mass basis of a grinding-media charge. It does not select bead size or material, publish a universal fill setting, calculate product residence time, set specific energy, predict throughput or prescribe an operating procedure.

What volume represents 100% fill?

Ask the candidate supplier to define the reference volume and revision, including whether shaft, rotor, discs, pegs, separator and other internals are included or excluded. A chamber label or nominal volume does not by itself identify the denominator used for media fill.

Which bulk-density record converts volume to mass?

Attach media manufacturer, type, lot, nominal size, size-fraction record, new or used condition, bulk-density value, source and measurement method. Do not substitute true or specific density for the settled or poured bulk-density basis used in the charge calculation.

How is the actual charge reconciled and controlled?

Record calculated target mass separately from scale-measured loaded mass, then reconcile removed, spilled and top-up quantities. Preserve the loading and verification reference state, approvals, wear rule and every trigger that requires revalidation.

Compare the denominator and measured record—not the percentage alone.

What does 100% media fill mean in a bead mill?

It must be defined by the candidate mill supplier. The reference may depend on a controlled chamber or grinding-system volume and on which internals and reference state are included. Preserve the exact OEM definition and revision instead of inferring it from a nominal chamber label.

Is grinding-media bulk density the same as true density?

No. True or specific density describes the material itself, while bulk density includes the voids created by how discrete media pack in a measured volume. Record the value, sample condition, container, filling, settling or leveling method and source used in the calculation.

Can a fill percentage be converted directly to charge mass?

Only after the reference-volume denominator, selected supplier-approved fraction, media identity and condition, and method-specific bulk-density value are controlled. The resulting target mass still has to remain separate from the actual calibrated-scale loading record.

Is media fill the same as product hold-up?

No. Grinding media occupy part of the grinding system, while product hold-up and residence-time behavior depend on the product-accessible flow path and operating state. Keep those records separate and use the dedicated residence-time guide for the product-side question.

Can the same media-fill percentage be transferred between bead mills?

Not without supplier review. Different chamber and grinding-system revisions, internals, reference-volume definitions, media, packing condition and verification methods can produce different physical charges from the same percentage label.

Does this page publish a JINPIONEER fill level or charge mass?
