Mixing-tank specification / RFQ guide

A mixing-tank RFQ should describe the batch, not only the volume.

A useful request follows the material from first charge to final drain. It tells the supplier what the tank must do, how the batch changes and which interfaces belong inside the proposal.

Before hardware selection

Separate what the tank contains from what the tank must accomplish.

A vessel can support several stages in one batch. Naming each duty and endpoint makes the agitation, thermal, connection and cleaning questions visible.

Process duty

State whether the task is blending, suspension, powder incorporation, emulsification, let-down, adjustment, holding or a defined combination.

Batch behavior

Describe viscosity change, settling, foaming, shear or heat sensitivity and what happens during each addition.

Supply boundary

List the vessel, agitation, thermal interfaces, fittings, transfer, instruments, controls, access and documents expected in the proposal.

What is the minimum information for a mixing-tank RFQ?

Provide the material and its behavior, working batch range, mixing duties, addition sequence, endpoint, temperature purpose, pressure state, transfer route, cleaning method, utilities and controls boundary.

Why is tank volume alone not enough?

Volume describes capacity, but it does not define circulation, suspension, shear, heat-transfer support, additions, drainage or the way viscosity changes during the batch.

What if viscosity changes during the process?

Record the known or expected range by process stage, along with temperature and shear conditions used for the measurement. The changing batch is more useful than one isolated value.

When should the term reactor appear in the RFQ?

Use it only when the vessel supports a defined controlled reaction, and state the actual process conditions and design basis. The word alone does not establish pressure, temperature, code or safety scope.
